What is Korean Barbecue?

North Americans, who generally consider Chinese food to be a healthy mix of meats and
vegetables, will find it odd to hear Koreans describe Chinese food as greasy! Koreans
generally use less oil and more spices in their cooking. Korean barbecue is a favorite
restaurant dinner meal. Participants sit on a floor cushion around a table barbecuing and
eating marinated meats as well as an assortment of vegetables, salad fixings, and rice
brought to the table.
Kimchi, a spicy garlicky-marinated cabbage, is served as a side dish
with virtually every meal. Soju, beer, cola or water is the preferred beverage.
